while providing situations and opportunities for their continued thinking about, de- velopment,  and adjustment of their  ideas and skills,  Knowledge-centeredness re- lets  to  environments  that  begin  with concern  for  students'  initial preconceptions and "focus on  the kinds of information and activities that help  students develop understanding of disciplines"  (p,  136),  including such activities as sense-making,
